The Sweet East is the directorial feature debut from world-renowned cinematographer Sean Price Williams. 

Inspired by the American historical contexts of the film, and references from the silent film era of cinema, we created 81 unique title cards including the opening title sequence, four intertitles, and the end card- all drawn by hand then photographed on 16mm via a 40-year-old Oxberry Animation Stand. The outcome was a beautifully imperfect representation of the practical effects and rawness of the film.

The Sweet East premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2023 and is now out through Utopia Distribution.
